Energy
After considerable investment and research, we have just
completed a trial at Lainston House for a sophisticated boiler
management system. The MK Boiler control system stops the
boiler from running when it is not actually needed. In a 2
week trail at Lainston, the system saved 27% energy consumption
i.e. 60 hours of boiler burning time. As the trail has been so
successful this highly efficiently boiler will be installed in all
our properties commencing with Lainston. This new technology
will help to reduce the amount of energy needed for heating and hot
water requirements.
Solar panels have also been installed on the administration
building at Lainston House which runs the power for the boiler.
Recycling
A large amount of recycling goes on at our hotel. This
includes glass, paper, cardboard and printer cartridges.
We have in
place:
100% Toner cartridge recycling
100% Glass bottle recycling
100% Metal recycling
80% Can recycling
60% Plastic bottle recycling
Recycled and
Biodegradable
Lainston House now use a company called Yates Disposables to
provide them with:
- 100% recycled toilet paper
- 100% recycled blue kitchen roll
- 100% biodegradable tissue paper
Food
All our Chefs and Kitchen teams are totally committed to
supporting Food Heroes, an Exclusive Hotels initiative to promote
and work with local suppliers, so that they can source the very
best seasonal produce in and around their immediate area and
develop excitingly varied menus.
Home grown
We have created a wonderful Kitchen garden producing a wide
variety of seasonal and organic produce for our chefs. This
guarantees fresh ingredients from ground to plate in a matter of an
hour or two.
We are rearing our own livestock and have already got Lainston
Pigs on site.
We also have a green waste compost policy from gardens and
kitchen.
