shooting, fishing – and we have them all (and more!) here at
Lainston House.
Traditional rural activities are as popular as
ever and in Hampshire we have a huge variety of opportunities to
experience them right here in the grounds of Lainston House or just
a few miles away.
Falconry
We are delighted to host our very own Bird of
Prey aviary at the hotel, all run under the expert guidance of
falconer Billy Taylor.
Billy cares for hawks, eagles and owls within
the hotel grounds. Each bird has been or is being trained for
exciting flying displays and falconry experiences such as Hawk
Walks or Hunting with Falcons.
Every Sunday Billy and his birds give two
flying displays, just book Sunday lunch or afternoon tea to be
thoroughly entertained on the Lainston Terrace, with views across
Hampshire’s most beautiful countryside. Private displays, or
hand-on experiences during the walks and hunting experiences can be
booked any day of the week.

Fishing
As Lainston House is located just a few short
miles for both The Test and The Itchen, world famous for the
excellent fly fishing opportunities. We provide the perfect spot to
cast off to some great fishing, hire a ghillie for the day to learn
all the local secrets.

Shooting
As a country house hotel, Lainston features
acres of glorious grounds, and we have plenty of space to set up a
clay pigeon range. A variety of stands and traps can be
placed to ensure all levels of ability are provided.
However if you prefer the real thing a number
of local estates offer game shooting, pheasant and partridge when
in season.
