Christmas Eve

Saturday 24th December

From 2.00pm: You’re invited to arrive at your leisure... the hotel is beautifully decorated and the huge open fireplace will warm you as you step into the hotel lobby
3.00pm: Once you have taken in the delights of your room, you’re invited to enjoy a festive afternoon tea served in the Drawing Room
7.00pm: Meet fellow guests over champagne and canapés whilst listening to carols sung at 7pm by our local church choir before sitting down to a four-course gourmet dinner with wines to match in our Avenue Restaurant (or private dining room for larger parties)
10.45pm: After dinner, for those who wish, transport to Winchester Cathedral will be provided and later, we’ll welcome you back to the warmth of the hotel with mulled wine and mince pies before you tiptoe off to bed to dream of what Santa might bring!

Christmas Day

Sunday 25th December

7.00am to 9.30am: Full English breakfast served in the Avenue Restaurant (or in a private dining room for larger parties) and indulge in the thought of a Christmas Day where you don’t have to lift a finger!
Morning: Then for those guests wishing to attend the Christmas praise service, Sparsholt Church is just a short walk from the House
12.00pm: Join our chefs in the Drawing Room for hot roasted chestnuts and a glass of champagne prior to the main event of the day
From 12.30pm: A traditional five-course Christmas lunch with a true family feel will be served, exquisitely prepared using the finest, freshest local ingredients with wines to match. And, as Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Santa Claus, keep an eye out for an appearance by the man himself!
Afternoon: Christmas afternoon is all about rest and relaxation –why not test your braincells and your creative side and take part in our Lainston Quiz, explore the grounds and find the clues to our treasure hunt, perhaps join us in front of the television for that time-honoured seasonal custom of the Queen’s speech
8.00pm: Relax in the lounge or your room before an informal evening with a light buffet served in the Avenue Restaurant. Quiz results will be announced this evening!

Boxing Day

Monday 26th December

8.00am – 10.00am: Start the day with a nourishing full English breakfast served in the Avenue Restaurant
(Two night package guests depart after breakfast)
10.30am – 12.00pm: Wrap up warm and head outside for clay pigeon* shooting and archery* in the grounds with steaming hot chocolate and delicious marshmallows
12.30pm: Once back inside, warm up by the log fire and enjoy reception drinks followed by a superb three-course carvery lunch.
Afternoon: The afternoon is your time… why not take a stroll around the grounds (will you find the Kitchen Garden, the Pets Cemetery or perhaps even the 25^th Anniversary silver birch at the end of the avenue of lime trees?) or simply relax with a good book and a glass of something lovely and bubbly! Alternatively watch our resident falconer fly his stunning birds of prey on our lawns.
3.30pm: A light festive afternoon tea will be served in the Drawing Room so why not come along and listen to our guest speaker for the afternoon
7.00pm for 7.45pm: In the evening, put your posh frock and black tie on and enjoy a champagne reception in the Cedar Bar prior to the evening’s Casino Royale event complemented by a stunning four-course dinner with specially selected wines. Retire to the drawing room after dinner where the betting begins!

Monday 27th December

And the merriment continues...

8.00 – 10.00am: Wake up and enjoy a full English Breakfast in the Avenue Restaurant... or have it delivered to your room perhaps!
(Three-night package guests depart after breakfast)
10.00am-12.00pm: Get your tastebuds working and take part in our Tastebud Challenge!
Afternoon: Before you head off home, why not take a trip into Winchester, just a short drive from Lainston, and spend the afternoon exploring this wonderfully historic city?
From 7.00pm: For those of you who are staying with us on the four night package, enjoy a sumptuous three-course dinner in the Avenue Restaurant
